After successfully taming BBC East, we've been able to secure appearances on BBC Kent and BBC Surrey. Our song "Sangria Evening" continues to warm the British chill and UK radio stations as we await spring.
Jamie will appear on the BBC Kent Roger Day Show at 7pm on Monday, 29 March. Rumour has it that Jamie will bring along a guitar, so tune in for the possibility of another fine live performance.

For those of you who like a strong dose of rock 'n' roller with your coffee, Jamie will appear on the BBC Surrey Breakfast Show at 9:30am on Tuesday, 30 March. Rumour has it that Jamie will be spared the joy of breakfast show singing, and offered an extra shot of espresso to liven Surrey's airwaves.

Many thanks to Gaynor and Steve Osborne for their help! Stay tuned, we've almost completed two new songs at Berry Street Studio and hope to give you a sneak preview soon.

I've been everywhere but here, but you now how it goes 'cos there's no place like nowhere.
Great news! We are getting picked up by radio stations in the US and the number is growing. If you are in CT, give a shout to WESU, WPKN and WWUH. For the Fighting Illini, try WEFT and the Hoosiers can tune into WFHB. If you are a Minneapolis rocker, call KFAI and in St. Louis you can hear us on KDHX. Nothing would please Jamie more than to spend a few days in Houston, so our extended family in Texas should get on the hook to KPFT and demand HiP. Thanks for your support!

| New album"a series of subtle delights" and "a non-stop string of oughta-be hits" |

Wow, we're blown away by recent reviews of our new CD "Worlds Away, Yards Apart"! The one and only Billboard called the album "a series of subtle delights." Billboard review:
"Hiding in Public subscribes to the long lineage of British pop songcraft, starting of course with the Beatles but also the Small Faces and Squeeze. "Worlds Away, Yards Apart," the troupe's third release, was delayed by singer/guitarist Jamie Moses' stint in the back line of Queen + Paul Rodgers but displays the same unaffected yet sophisticated leaning of its predecessors. Despite its eclectic bent, this is consistently engaging, from the rootsy richness of the title track to the brassy, Rat Pack-saluting punch of "Bikini Blue Sky" to the cabaret rollick of "Picture of Me With a Portrait of the Queen." The contemplative "Free After Free Fall" hews toward folk-rock, while "She Was Mine" mines cabaret dynamics and "Sangria Evening" incorporates a gentle Latin sway. It's a series of subtle delights that make for an understated but captivating whole. "
LMNOP piled on by making the album one of its top picks, awarding it 5 stars and writing "Hiding in Public play extraordinarily warm and hummable smooth pop music that spins like a non-stop string of oughta-be hits." LMNOP review:
"Wonderfully melodic keyboard-driven pop music reminiscent of some of the best artists from the 1970s. This one quickly squeezed under the fence right before we were uploading reviews...and we're glad as hell it did. The folks in Hiding In Public play extraordinarily warm and hummable smooth pop music that spins like a non-stop string of oughta-be hits. We don't hear many self-released CDs that are as ultimately satisfying as this. Driven by the songwriting talents of David Holland ... these guys have come up with eleven cool treats here. We only had time to spin this one a couple of times...but initial standout cuts include "Worlds Away, Yards Apart," "Free After Free Fall," "Can't Find The Key," and "Picture Of Me With A Portrait Of The Queen." Great stuff, just perfect for springtime driving... Recommended. (Rating: 5++)"
Both reviewers enjoyed "Picture of Me with a Portrait of the Queen", a wild tale coded in Cockney-rhyming slang about a night on the tiles in London. If you haven't heard this track, you can request a free download by writing to info@hidinginpublic.com.
We cannot set the price for downloads on iTunes, but we can on CD Baby. We've marked the download price of our three albums to $3.99 each! Order Hiding in Public now on CD Baby:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
LONDON ROCK BAND HIDING IN PUBLIC TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM, WORLDS AWAY, YARDS APART, IN MAY 2009
Title Track Wins First Prize in 2008 International Songwriting Competition
New York, NY—London rock band Hiding In Public is set to release its third LP, World’s Away, Yards Apart this May in the US and UK. With a line-up of accomplished musicians ranging in studio and live credits from Duran Duran to Queen, Hiding in Public boasts magic pop songs with classic rock smooth.
It was no accident of luck when David Holland, founder/songwriter/guitarist of Hiding in Public, reached out to his pal Kevin Porée of Berry Street Studio: Porée came complete with stalwart mates John Tonks and Jamie Moses. Tonks is an accomplished drummer who can tag Neneh Cherry, Sugababes, Fish, Duran Duran and Paul Oakenfold among some of his past employers; Moses is a well-known UK session kat with a résumé that reads like a racy novel, and with whom Kevin worked on the Los Pacaminos album (with Paul Young).
The band’s debut, Silent Exchange, won enthusiastic attention and aptly demonstrated both a sophisticated songwriting prowess and the top-shelf chops expected of a group clutching such a résumé. Unfortunately, Hiding in Public’s rocket was shot down before it got in the air. Straight after the release of Silent Exchange, Moses got hired to tour with Queen + Paul Rodgers and play second guitar to Brian May. So, while Jamie toured the globe, David hid away penning a fresh set of tunes. When Moses returned, the band emerged with What Lies Ahead, a brilliant long-player featuring warm, haunting melodies and well-crafted pop-rock loaded with thoughtful lyrics.
Two years later, Worlds Away, Yards Apart is boasting an award-winning title track, with “Worlds Away, Yards Apart” recently having been announced as the first prize winner in the AAA category of the 2008 International Songwriting Competition. Recorded in London’s Berry Street Studio over the course of 2007 and 2008, the theme of alienation suggested by the title recurs throughout the CD. “She Was Mine” will immediately make you think of Randy Newman, Leon Russell and perhaps Warren Zevon with its ragged romanticism and New Orleans style horns. “Bikini Blue Sky” continues with a glimpse of cheeky attitude from Moses and an upbeat retro feel heard in the music of such smoove dandies as Neil Hannon and Scott Walker.
The album then swings from dark, racy pop to a contemplative, heavy mood. “Free After Free Fall” offers a seductive, swirling melody with a cathartic chorus that won’t let go. “Sangria Evening”, a Holland/Moses collaboration, is the tune on the album that Moses is most partial to, palpably channeling Gordon Lightfoot and rounded out with a superb horn arrangement by Matheson Bayley.
The album was recorded in bursts until Moses got called away in August 2008 to do his thing again with Queen + Paul Rodgers. So, while the rest of the band worked through the fall, Jamie didn’t re-enter the studio until December 2008. Did Moses suffer guilt? “Yeah,” he says, “I do feel bad if recording schedules get screwed up because I'm off swanning around the world. But we're all grown-ups and we find a way 'round it.” Queen fans who admire Jamie's work receive updates on his movements via the official Queen Fan Club site and Brian May's website. To thank all its Queen supporters, Hiding in Public will announce the release of the new album and give away free CDs on these sites.

Hiding in Public
MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST UPDATE
Fans to Generate Content for Two New Songs
“Their sound is majestic and otherworldly … in the same vein as late career Eric Clapton, Hiding in Public manages to deliver a great tune after another great tune.” - Smother Magazine, Editor’s Pick
http://www.hidinginpublic.com/photos/0
Copyright Steve Bingham 2008 / Photo prompt for Hiding in Public’s fan video and fan photo contest
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 8, 2008
London - London pop rock project Hiding in Public is inviting talented fans and friends to come out of hiding and create music videos for two new songs on the band’s upcoming third album – due out in early ’09.
Fans can download the two songs in contention, She Was Mine and/or Worlds Away, Yards Apart over the coming month by going to the Hiding in Public website and clicking www.hidinginpublic.com/user . The band’s preference is for animated video, but all forms of video will be accepted. Originality and thematic content are the most important factors, so don’t be afraid of keeping it low-tech and witty.
The band has also released a “prompt” photo that fans can use as a visual/thematic platform when developing their video content. In the photo by photographer Steve Bingham, a female mannequin stands posed before a decrepit suburban home with broken windows and peeling paint. “The picture reminds me of the black humour in Worlds Away, Yards Apart and amplifies the tragedy of a trophy wife and expensive life sliding into a broken home,” says songwriter David Holland. “Fans can choose the decadent fun of She Was Mine or the existential twists of Worlds Away, Yards Apart. We encourage talented amateurs to enter.”
The grand prize winner will receive $2,000 with a second place prize (if selected) of $500. Animators, videographers, directors, and music fans across the planet are invited to submit a link to their video(s) to contest@hidinginpublic.com .
The Contest is now underway with all submissions due to the band by December 31, 11:59 pm (midnight) GMT. Hiding in Public will make the final decision and declare a winner by January 31, 2009.
There is no limit to the number of submissions that can be entered. This is a global contest, so anyone from anywhere can enter. All entries must be the creator’s original work, and entrants must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
For those fans who can’t produce video, the band is also kicking off a fan photo contest in which fans are asked to locate cool mannequins and photograph themselves with the model – then send the photos to photo@hidinginpublic.com . Band members will randomly select favourite photos and dispense band swag/prizes for creativity. (They do ask that fans “keep it clean” as photos will be posted online.)
Hiding in Public’s new CD will be the band’s third studio album in four years, and is already garnering strong reviews from fans taking advantage of free pre-release downloads on web and social sites. It is set to be released digitally on iTunes with physical distribution through CDBaby.
Hiding in Public is driven by the songs of David Holland, and features legendary live and session guitarist Jamie Moses. Moses is on tour this fall with Queen + Paul Rodgers, and has played with such luminaries as Mike & The Mechanics, Brian May Band, Paul Young and Bob Geldof. Hiding in Public is backed by John Tonks on drums and Kevin Poree on bass/keyboards.

| Latest News, Newest Song "Save Me" |
Posted: Feb 10, 2008 |
|
Greetings from sunny London! I'd better write quickly so I don't let the sun go down on me. We've posted a new song called "Save Me" which has hints of early David Bowie and The Beatles "A Day in the Life" (we are unashamed advocates of thinking big). It features the extraordinary Matheson Bayley on strings which propel the song's existential theme. You can hear "Save Me" on the HiP website and MySpace:
www.hidinginpublic.com/songs
www.myspace.com/hidinginpublic
If you would like a free mp3, simply send back a note requesting "Save Me" to David@HidinginPublic.com .
Other inciting news.
• We are back in the studio working on a new set of songs for our 3rd CD. Stay tuned, we'll keep posting 'em as we finish 'em.
• Our song "I'm Running Late" will feature on the upcoming soundtrack of "Johnny Delgado Is Dead" www.johnnydelgadoisdead.com . Let's just hope that gun-slinging Johnny Delgado is not the nom de guerre of guitar-slinging Jamie Moses.
• From the virtual heat of the American southwest to the imagined shores of Tasmania, Jamie and David were interviewed by Hobart Radio International http://www.hriradio.org/aussiequeens.htm as part of an Aussie Queens special (Aussie and NZ Queen fan club). Wild tales of mysticism and magic abound in these thought-provoking interviews with the lads.
Help us spread the news! If you enjoy our new song, please forward this note to friends letting them know they can be saved for free by simply requesting "Save Me".

Speaking of the extraordinary, congratulations to Jamie and Sarah on their engagement! The band is rather skint and needs a bit of cash to buy them a present. Purchases of "She Was Mine" from the HiP website will be used to buy their present. It'll cost you $1 for the download (50p for our British fans). Help the band send Jamie off in style!
We'd love to hear what you think of the new song. Thanks for listening and spreading the word!

Bikini Blue Sky goes well with driving, lying on the beach, having a braai, sitting at a Biergarten, going for a surf or just enjoying the summer sun. We'd love to hear what you think. Help spread the word and have a groovy summer!
Cheers, Hiding |

| Hiding in Public is the Editor's Pick at Smother Magazine |

Our CD "What Lies Ahead" was chosen as Editor's Pick at Smother Magazine!
"What I like about Hiding in Public is that their sound is something so close to pedestrian but it still sounds majestic and otherworldly. Simplistic pop-rock that works in the same vein as late career Eric Clapton, Hiding in Public manages to deliver a great tune after another great tune. Strong and mature songwriting that will reinvigorate even the most stumped musician."

Thanks for your kind notes about the USA Songwriting Contest. Unfortunately, "Closing In" didn't close in on Grand Prize and ended as one of the Top 10 finalists in the Pop category. We're delighted to have made it so far in the contest. Please help spread the word about MuzikMan's terrific review of What Lies Ahead.

Everything You Need ... for free
Happy Easter! We have really been Hiding in Public, except for Jamie who has been on tour with Queen + PR in the US. He'll be back in England enjoying an honest pint at his favorite pub in a few days. David broke his HiP in a skiing accident and had to undergo surgery in the US. Unfortunately Queen did not pass through Salt Lake City, Utah to make his stay more enjoyable.
Work has begun on some new tracks and we hope to finish a CD within the next few months. With great temerity, we set up a page on planet MySpace.com and feel like an absolute aliens. To attract visits from you and your friends, we have posted a new song "Everything You Need" on MySpace. You can download it for FREE and we'll keep it available for the next two weeks.
Everything You Need is a fun rock 'n' roller which features loads of guitars and a few twists. We posted it on GarageBand.com for reviews and it is now in the top 3% of all-time in the Rock category. The latest review is pasted below. To hear it and download it at MySpace, go to http://www.myspace.com/hidinginpublic . We would love to know what you think.
Cheers!

Everything You Need! (review)
Hot guitar player, nice work! Excellent bass player laying down the bottom end. Backed up by some very tight and articulate drumming. Lyrics are short, sweet and to the point. Vocalist has that range & intonation that every blues rock singer dreams of. Love the beat, mood, melody and the feel. You got my body moving, head bobbing, my toes tapping and I'm singing along. Excellent structure, production and mix. Robert Palmer meets BB Chunk King, it's got everything you need!

Seasons greetings and thank you for supporting Hiding in Public!
Between stops on the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour, we were able to hustle Jamie into the studio to record four new tracks. Why wait for the release of a new CD before sharing the excitement? We are making two of them available for purchase as MP3's on the Hiding in Public website. The new tracks are the first two on the list: "Take Anything" and "Home Tonight".
Don't be shy, please let us know what you think of the latest tracks.
If you would like to send our "Silent Exchange" CD to liven a lucky one's silent night, please go to iTunes link at the Hiding in Public website.
Seasons greetings!
